In Suffolk County there are a 5 types of tickets you can be charged with for driving with a suspended or revoked license or having no license at all. The type of charges that you are given a ticket for depends upon the number of tickets that a person received previously and may not have answered the tickets. The more suspensions for not answering prior tickets that a person has on their license the more seriousness of the initial charge.
Driving with a suspended license there are many sections of the law that people are charged with. In order to get the charges reduced to a violation 509.1, 511a — the person has to clear up all of the suspensions that are on their license kupovina.

Driving with a Suspended License there are 3 classes that these tickets fall into which is:
Violations: Driving with a Suspended License
509.1 – operating a motor vehicle without a license as if you forgot your license at home and drove a motor vehicle
- 509.1 – operating a motor-vehicle without a license. Someone is charged with this when the person does not have a license with them and are operating a motor-vehicle or if they do not have a license at all and have no prior tickets for operating a motor vehicle without a license.
511a – called facilitated aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor-vehicle that you facilitated the operation of a motor-vehicle by someone that did not have a license to drive
- 511a – facilitated aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor-vehicle someone will receive a ticket for this charge if they are facilitating the operation of a motor vehicle by a driver that the individual knows has a suspended license.
Violations – are not crimes, punishable by up to 30 days in jail or a fine. Oftentimes people are just fined.
- Violations oftentimes people that are charged with misdemeanors after they clear up there are suspensions the charges are reduced to these sections of the law
Misdemeanors: Aggravated Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle. There are 2 Classes of this Charge.
511.1 – aggravated unlicensed operation of motor vehicle
- If you have one or 2 suspensions on your driving record, you will generally be charged with driving with a suspended license in violation of section 511.1 A. of the New York State vehicle and traffic law.
511.2 – misdemeanor sections of the law when people drive and are pulled over a number of times with having no license or a suspended license.
- if you have 3 or more suspension on 3 or more dates for failure to respond to tickets or if you license is suspended or revoked as a result of a prior alcohol related offense, then the charge is aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor-vehicle in the 2nd degree in violation of section 511.2 A. of the New York State vehicle and traffic law.
- A driver will also be charged with a 511.2 A. if the original suspension or revoked event resulted from either a conviction for an alcohol or drug related violation or a chemical test refusal or if the original suspension was mandatory suspension pending prosecution of an alcohol related offense.
- Oftentimes these 2 misdemeanor charges are reduced to the violations 509.1 or 511a mentioned above if the person that is charged with this crime clears up all of their suspensions on the person’s license. The district attorney will not plea bargain these tickets to a violation without the individual clearing up all of the suspensions. Felony: 511.3 – Felony Aggravated Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle
Oftentimes someone that is charged with a felony aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor-vehicle is either put on probation or put in jail. Although the person is charged with a felony the plea bargain is usually down to a misdemeanor 511.1 A. aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle.
Or 511.2 A. Aggravated Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle there is no difference other than 511.2 A. carries a greater fine imposed by the court.
